Wikipedia bans Scientoligist IPs from editing site?

Wikipedia has banned all Scientoligist website addresses from editing ANYTHING on Wikipedia. Wikipedia also banned all anti-Scientology Wikipedia employees from editing those sites. do you think this is censorship or Wikipedia trying to keep their website neutral?

from what ive read the Scientoligists were causing trouble by editing out anything less than stellar from the site on several pages (Ron Hubbard, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, etc). ive provided two links from 2 different sides (sorry i dont know how to really link them)

  • It seems to me that ... from what I can tell... it's just trying to keep the site neutral. Censorship is what people are doing if they come in and remove facts that they don't want people to know about. That's what happens in China and N. Korea and obviously many places around the world where there is true censorship: anything negative is edited out and not allowed to be accessed by the general public. It's a way of controlling people by making sure that they simply don't have access to all the information. Or, protecting them from information that would cause them worry and confusion. (Many in those countries know that their information is censored heavily, and they appreciate the government caring enough to take the time to make sure they don't get "bad" stuff. It's a whole different culture.)

  • It seems to me they have a pretty standard treatment of that across the board - when political campaigns or corporations go in and attempt to prettify their pages, Wiki usually smacks them down. Since scientology has a business practice of suing anyone into oblivion who speaks out against them, this could get interesting.

  • Wiki, is it owned by someone or is it run by govt? If it's run by someone individually and they have a TOS, then too bad. Just like this site, they can censor whatever they want if it violates TOS.

  • Good for the Wiki! Scientologists are so afraid of people knowing just what insane things they believe in.

  • Well, it was equal on both sides. Not sure how that is wrong.
