How often should a Crown Tail Beta be fed?

I've seen instructions to feed him 2-3 times a day, and 2-3 times a week. Something's not right.

  • We feed a few times a day, just tiny bits each time. I figure he prefers having a few small meals.

  • Betas only need to be fed a couple of pellets every other day.
Remember that their natural habitat is a rice paddy that is only a few inches deep and they don't have much to live on.
I've had fish for over 20 years and I have never fed my fish more than twice a week regardless of the species of fish.

  • Once a day, maybe three pellets. Don't overfeed him. I overfed mine and exploded his swim bladder. Now he just floats at the top.
