Baby, less than a week old, found (alive) abandoned in a box on the side of a dirt road in FL.

I know there may be circumstances warranting the mother abandoning the baby. BUT she could have at least dropped the baby off at a hospital, firestation, etc. Why would she leave her by the side of the road? Anything could have happened to her, but thank God she was in good health when they found her and she had only been there for a day.

  • OMG how horrible. im sure who ever was scared but thats still giving credit, i feel the sameway if your gonna do that then drop off at a hospital firestation even a church. unfortunly i think who ever did it intended for the wee one not to survive. which is sooo sad. there are some desprate nut jobs out there. that babys better off now...she will be able to have a good life with a family that wants kids around.

  • Because the mother would have preferred to leave her baby there to die probably.

  • You know, there should be more press on the baby safe haven laws and dropoffs. Then the baby would have even better chance. And desperate people would be doing it right. Not just some random road.

  • My friend in high school was a baby left on the side of the road in a paper bag. Her mom was driving by and saw the bag moving and stopped thinking it was kittens. They never found the birth mom. That was long enough ago that they didn't have any trouble adopting her. This family already had four kids and had not planned on having anymore but they took finding her as a sign from God. Thankfully, she was found by such a wonderful family.

  • I thought abortion was supposed to solve this? So sad hope they find the egg donor and prosecute her to the full extent of the law. She is lucky this baby did not die. There is no excuse.
