If we were "created in Hs image"....

...if we are not animals, then why do we bear so much resemblance to so many animals? Why do our bodies work pretty much the same as any other animal with a vertebrae? Why can we catch the same diseases as them? Why do we share some behaviors with them? Why do our embryos look similar to their's in early stages of development? Why do some animals appear to have language and emotions like we do?

Did God also add some of his traits to the animals he created? If not, how do you explain these (and so many more) similarities?

  • Firstly that is phrased wrong. it should be Man made God in his own image. Man has been doing it for years. We are animals. I don't know who says otherwise, but we are. I bet we taste like pork too. If you've ever walked thru a burn victims unit the smell is similar. Oh but totally off point right. Sorry. =)

  • Sorry dragonfly. Didn't mean to ruin dinner, but yes it's true we smell like pork. My nursing instructor has never tasted a burn victim for obvious reasons, but we have toured a burn ward.

  • I believe that God has made everything absolutely glorious. And yes He has put His signature, if you will into everything. Romans 1:20 says, "From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God."

All the complexities, similarities, mysteries all declare His eternal power and divine nature.

  • "All flesh is not the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another." 1 Corinthians 15:39

  • Similarities? O.K. physical but humans are so much more than animals. What animal creates music, or art, or builds buildings, or cares for other species, or has a spiritual sense?  That is what God gave us that set us apart from the animals.  Man was his crowning creation, not because we are so great but because we have the ability to fellowship with Him.
