Is water safe to give to my six month old?

She drinks a few sips out of her sippy cup, with no sugar or juice added, Is this ok? Ive heard people say not to give water to a child under 1. Is that true?

  • Absolutely! My son loves it, and did at that age so the doctor said give him that over juice!

  • definitely. its better then juice. i mean i give DS juice once a day from those little gerber bottles of proportionate sizes. water is better though. theres no sugar and its better for them.

  • No its poisonous!!

J/k lol, yes give the baby spring water in between formula, it will help the stools pass more easily, you can give the baby Juicy Juice, Gerber juice, Simply Juice, & Pedialyte when she has diarrhea, fever, vomiting. Empty calories doesnt mean a damn thing, shes a baby Im pretty sure shes not watching her girlish figure, the juice has vitamins/nutrients so the whole calorie thing, just throw that out the window...

  • My Doc said water has no calories not to give it to a growing 1 year old- formula/breast milk and juice- thats what he said. Hes growing faster now then he ever will again in his life - they need the fuel. Water should not take the place of food or formula at this age.

  • My doctor said do not use water in the place of formula cause babies need the calories to grow.

  • its perfectily fine. better and less filling for baby than juice.
but some water has more iron than baby needs. well water for ex.

but water now will ensure he will drink it once real flavors are introduced..lol
