How often and how much should a 2 month old eat?

three questions on Formula feeding a 2 month old baby...

1) how often should they eat?
2) How many oz per feeding should they eat?
3) how long can they go without eating when they're asleep? cus Emma can sleep through the night if I let her but I usually don't let her pass 4 hours without any formula.

THANKS TO ALL THE MAMAZ WHO RESPOND SO FAST =)

  • Your infant will become more alert as the weeks progress, starting to coo and developing a social smile. So there will probably be more interaction between you and your baby during feedings.

The following are general guidelines, and your baby may be hungrier more or less often than this. That's why it's important to pay attention to your infant's signals of being hungry or full. A baby who is getting enough might slow down, stop, or turn away from the breast or bottle.

How can I tell when my baby is hungry?
It's generally recommended that babies be fed whenever they seem hungry, which is called demand feeding (or feeding on demand).

And if your baby is very young, or having problems gaining weight, you shouldn’t go too long without feeding, even if it means waking your baby. In this case, talk to your doctor about how often your baby should be fed.

Despite what some new parents might think, crying is a late

  • as much as they want, whenever they want at two months. As long as they are putting on weight its fine. I wouldnt let her go without for more than 4hours either at that age. My little girl can go through the night now at 6months, but during the day its about 3-4hours.

  • My daughter is two months old and she eats between 4-6 oz's . Its rare that she eats a full six. But she usually eats every four hours during the day but at night she will go sometimes six hours. The other night she went eight hours while sleeping through the night... never wake a sleeping baby, if they are sleeping through the night they are content, they wil wake when they are hungry.... That is them getting on a somewhat schedule. I freaked out when she slept that much that one night but she woke up and ate five oz's and is fine. If she sleeps than enjoy it and sleep yourself. The older they get, the more they will sleep through the night ( night every night). ..... Every baby is different. There isnt a set amount of oz's they eat.... just feed on demand and let them sleep when they are sleeping... dont wake them.

  • As often and as much as they like. If they want to sleep all night, LET THEM lol. When my son was 2 months, he was drinking 8oz of formula with rice cereal in it about every 3-4 hours while he was awake. He was pig

  • Books say between 2 and 2.5 oz per pound per day. My daughter generally falls into this range, although some days wants more. If she gets most of it in during the day, then she will sleep longer at night. Don't wake her! I wake my daughter during the day if she naps too long, but never at night. Mine eats 4 oz every 2.5-3.5 hours, and at night goes a 5 hour stretch followed by a 4 hour stretch. (She is only 6 weeks though.)

  • I HAVE A TWO MONTH OLD ALSO AND WHEN I WENT FOR MY 4 WEEK CHECK UP SHE WAS ALREADY TRYING TO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT BUT I WAS WAKING HER. MY DR SAID IF SHE WILL SLEEP LET HER SLEEP. I ASKED HER PEDIATRICIAN AND HE SAID SHE WAS GAINING JUST FINE JUST KEEP DOING WHAT I WAS DOING. SHE HAD ALREADY GAINED HER BIRTH WEIGHT BACK WHEN SHE WENT FOR HER LESS THAN ONE WEEK OLD CHECK UP AND THEY SAY IT USUALLY TAKES THEY TWO WEEKS. SHE IS ALSO BREASTFED THOUGH. SO I GUESS IF SHE IS GAINING GOOD SHE IS OKAY BUT YOU MIGHT WANNA ASK YOUR PEDITRICIAN EVERY INFANT ARE DIFFERENT.
