Your doctor said to give him baby asprin?!?!?! Never, ever, ever give asprin to someone under 18 years. It doesn't matter if the box is marked "baby asprin" or just asprin. In fact, every brand that used to say "baby asprin" has been relabeld as "low dose asprin" just so parents wouldn't think it was ok to give it to their babies. Never, ever, ever. It's a rare side-effect but asprin can kill children.
As for the teething:
Teething tablets help ease his upset.
Try a vibrating teething toy. First Years makes a couple - one shaped like a star, one like a corn cob.
Baby Orajel may help for long enough to get him to sleep at night but be sure to read the package and not give it too often.
Look over the chew toys at the baby store and pick some that are longer / skinnier so he can reach his back teeth.
