Are there comparrisons between the characteristics of Horus and Jesus?

HORUS:

Title: The anointed one. The good shepherd, the bread of life, the son of man, the Word, the fisher, the winnower.
Zodiac sign: Associated with Pisces, the fish.
Main symbols: Fish, beetle, the vine, shepherd's crook.

JESUS:
Main role: Savior of humanity.
Common portrayal: Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus.

YES THERE IS...

What is my point? Once again to show how Christianity is not unique but a facsimili of more Ancient religion.

  • Christians are blind followers of a book of mythology, how can we expect them to see the truth?

  • The difference is one is actually real the other is not. Nice try... Jesus is still King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the everlasting Savior.

  • why do you care ihartu? You can compare a rock and your brain and similarities does not mean you won't find differences.

  • Oh, Anon 9:06,

I see when faced with facts that seem to test your faith you act out in anger and desperate attempts at humor and insults. Maybe open a book besides your bible and LEARN something. There are many paralells between the bible and other ancient myths and I'm sorry if that bursts your little bubble of thinking the bible is one of a kind and unique, but you don't have to take it out on me! Go run a lap or two...

  • There are many similarities. And both are as factual as the other... What I don't understand why it's so easy for someone to believe in one and not the other... There is just as much proof of one that there is the other.

  • Yes ma'am. I didn't know about Horus until recently. Have you looked up stuff about Mithra? There's soooo many similarities between all three of them. I agree with you Sabrina. How in the hell can someone put more faith into one than the other if they're the same frickin stories?

They believed in THEIR god JUST as you believe in YOURS. There is NO other difference.

    Today's religions is tomorrow's mythology.

  • No. Jesus was beyond comparison to ANYONE! Man, or "god", or whatever else you can dredge up. He was,and still is beyond reproach, was the ONLY sinless person to ever walk the earth, died the most horrendous death in the history of the world, and proved to the world who He was when He was resurrected by His Father. You can post propaganda all you want, day and night, not gonna change anything about anyone's beliefs. We know where Christianity came from. Not where you "think" it came from. It's of God, THE God, the God of Heaven and Earth. The creator of everything, and everyone. Anything else isn't real, at least to Christians. If it is to you, then fine and dandy. Leave us to our beliefs! And, stop trying so hard to change what's already written. We DON'T CARE!

  • That's only the tip of the iceberg as far as Christian mythological plagarism is concerned. Christmas also seems pretty similar to Germanic pagan tree worship, Easter is identical to most Spring fertility rituals, and every ancient religion has an immaculate conception story. The list goes on and on.
