can you subsitute olive oil for vegtable oil for a cake?

  • It makes it taste a bit different. You can substitute apple sauce without getting the 'off' taste.

  • Olive oil is much heavier and flavorful. It is not appropriate for sweets, only for savories.

  • I did and the cake had a different texture and taste to it, but it wasn't bad at all. Look for a lighter olive oil. But if it is just because you are out of regular oil, you can substitute applesauce for the oil.
