Why do we have wars again?

Me and Dh was talking about this last night..we took America over from the Native Americans..we made our own rules for this country..we decided we want freedom..so why are we always fighting other countries for OUR freedom?..how would they change it? how does someone dying for it keep it?

  • Just go hug a tree or something, and when the Nazis come marching, or the jihadists come for your head, you can just tell them you don't believe in war and there's never any legitimate reason for it. Oh, you can also tell them to just take over America since obviously WE'RE the bad guys and aggressors, right?
Freaking treasonous. I'm so sick of this type of crap.

  • This question is dumb. Go read a history book and you'll get your answers.

BTW American didn't "invent" war. There has been war since time begin, and there will still be war when this thing ends.

  • Wow that was kind of rude you guys.

I don't think the question is dumb. I personally think that we fight in these wars so we can remain the "stronger" country. You know how everyone has that one person that they look up to? Well the US IS that person to some people and some people take that position of "role model" very seriously and to stay that way in the eyes of the rest of the world we try to give everyone the same freedoms that we have. Just incase someone tries to take that from us, we gain allies to help us when we are in need.

That's just my take on it.

  • Good point Anon. I think that might be the main reason these days. Before it was more of a territorial thing. Now it's all about religion. Scary to me.

  • I don't think that today's struggle with murderous terrorists is actually about religion at all. They SAY that it is, and they cloak themselves in the Islam religion; they use excerpts from Islam scriptures as propaganda to recruit more people into their plans.

But they also state quite openly that their aim IS territorial. They intend that all nations should be under "Islamic" law (which actually means under THEIR rule, the "Islamic" part is just a campaign slogan they use)

They pretend it is a religious crusade, but they kill more fellow Muslims than they do other religions, so that's blatantly false.

Similarly, the takeover of Socialism after WWII - Russia invaded a dozen neighbors and became the USSR - was NOT to "help the poor". The leaders became dictators.

(This is the reason so many of us are alarmed about the current socialist actions of our Federal gov't - socialism cannot help but lead to a dictatorship gov't.)
