When should he be able to spoon-feed himself? he's 11 months old, we've done some practicing but he doesn't quite get it. i'm not concerned- just curious- also, he was a late teether, so we're fairly new to the "chunky" foods, etc.

He is my first child, 11 months old, started teething at about 8 1/2 months, started with finger foods like "little puffs" about 1 month ago.

  • Average age for using a spoon/fork correctly is 13 to 20 months!

  • My daughter was the same way. I just let her have the spoon and let her watch me eat. He will eventually catch on. Just let him play with the spoon while he's eating and make sure he can see how mommy does it. Give him time, it will happen.

  • Im glad someone else asked this. I was getting concerned about my son. He is 13 months old. He understands using a spoon or fork but would rather fling his food with it instead of eating with it. but where theres no food on it he puts it in his mouth.

    normal?

  • LOL. IfLoveWasBorn, my 15 month old son loves to hold it and he actually will stab his food with either utensil..but still eats with his hands. :) Just gotta give 'em time!
