  • im sure it's normal. some babies learn quicker than others so i wouldn't worry that your other kids walked sooner. my daughter walked a week after she turned 1, it was strange like she just got up one day and started that wobbly walk like she had known what to do for months lol. i'm sure she's just mustering up the confidence to make that first step and then she'll be impossible to chase after before you know it lol

  • My daughter, who is now 3, didn't start walking til she was a year old and my mom said that I didn't walk til I was almost 14 months old so she'll do it when she's ready.

  • yeah some are just quicker. My mother said my sister learned to walk at 7mos and me at almost 9mos. But I think maybe yu should try and encourage it more...like have her hold yur fingers while she takes steps around the house.

  • I have a friend whose 1st baby walked at 9 months and second at 15 months. Both boys. They were both running the same at two, she says.

  • you're worried? be lucky she's standing! lol. no i'm not trying to be rude. my son didn't start walking until 14 months, that's not a big deal. i'm worried about my dd. she's 10 months and doesn't even like to stand, let alone crawl or walk. she'd rather scoot around on her butt, but even doesn't do that very well. i've already asked the doc about it, i even got a second opinion. they both said she's just being lazy. other than that she's doing what she's supposed to be doing at this age. i'm still worried though, no matter what the doctors say, but that's just being a mom.

  • My DD finally crawled 2 weeks before she turned 1. She took her first steps at 13 mos and was walking pretty well by 14 mos. I agree with armywife--be happy it didn't start sooner!! lol If the child is not walking by 18 mos she should have an evaluation. Your pedi can give you a referal.

Its completely normal and nothing to worry about :~)

  • I wouldn't worry. My son didn't walk until he was 13 months old. He would cruse around the furniture but try and get him to cross empty space and he wouldn't. then, one day, he was playing with a walk behind toy and next thing I knew he was across the room and I haven't had a moment of peace since LOL.
