Were your application for government assistance denied even though you've lost your job?

  • Thats standard. If you make what is considered middle class wages even on unemployment you get denied. News flash-- dems are not for the middle class either.

  • Yes! The social worker (agency rep) suggested to cash out our 401K. So were denied.

  • several years ago my dh lost his job while i was on bedrest with our middle dd. we were denied everything because he had a 401K, and how much money we had made combined in the last year. We were also told to go and get money for food off of friends and family until his check from his 401K was there to help us, and after that money ran out to sell our house and vehicles for money!!! How much bull is all of that!

  • something similar as fallnangel3: after 9/11 tragedy the company closed and my dh went to apply for help and was told to use the 401 K. I was taking care of our 4 month old baby. We ended up with bills and debt because we put every expense in our credit cards. We ended up living with our was very hard to get after 9/11 specially for new yorkers. Fortunately we got a job 9 months later. Thank god!
