  • TV - $0. We use an antenna and a digital converter box we got for $5 with the government coupons.
Cell phones - $0. We don't use them, as we can't afford even a pay-as-you-go plan.
Internet - $25 per month for basic DSL. We are both in school, so the high-speed is a necessity, especially since I'm in a distance-learning program.
Land line - $10 per month, no "frills," we use an answering machine, and if we have to call long distance we buy a phone card.
All said and done (taxes, fees and stuff) we pay $42 a month.
We have one luxury. We have NetFlix. My parents get it for us every year for our anniversary, so we don't pay for it. Even so, it would be about $120 a year if we did for one disk at a time but an unlimited number of disks a year.

  • I have satellite tv, basic phone and high speed dsl for $99 a mo and then our cellphones with all the bells and whistles are $140 a mo. We are getting ready to move and there we will not have a home phone so it will be our cell phone bill plus $50 for tv and $34.99 for internet. About the same.

  • too much. We need to get a bundled plan but haven't gotten around to it.

We have Dish Network which is like 65 a month, then the internet is 55 per month, and our phone service (we have cells only) is 130 per month.

  • President Bill Clinton signs the Telecommunications Act of 1996 into law. It is the first rewriting of the nation's communications laws since 1934. The bill's purpose is to promote competition between local telephone companies, long distance telephone companies and cable companies by establishing procedures for the elimination of legal and regulatory barriers between these industries.
