All Religions and Beliefs

Idea: Instead of everyone constantly bashing each other, how about each week a seperate religion or belief is discussed. This way everyone has the opportunity to learn and ask questions about a different faith without being rude and hostile. Example: The first week could be about Wiccan beliefs. Post all the different aspects of your belief, how it came to be, what made you become a Wiccan, etc. We can all ask as many questions as we want without being judgemental or rude. Week 2: Could be the Catholics turn, Week 3: The Christians, Week 4: The Pagens, and on and on. That way, in the end, everyone will have an actual working knowledge of each religion and we can have real discussions with each other, instead of acting on our own ignorance about someone else's belief system. It's only an idea........

  • There'd be no way to moderate it. I'm in a group like that and it's my favorite group: http://www.cafemom.com/group/EndReligiousHate

It doesn't "take turns" but rather seperates the religions into categories where people can go and ask questions and have discussions.

  • although that would be nice, have you seen some of the trolls on here? even if we did start something like that they would go nuts all over the threads. which i really do love to read, and occasionally troll myself. but yeah, i think you give the mothers on here a little too much credit.

  • LMAO allybot...TROLLS!! very funny but harshly accurate..some mommys are mean!! i joined a few clubs to ask my questions and learn...if people wanna learn they need to make the effort to ask. people respond suprisingly well when questioned in a calm accepting mannor!!! Ive learned ALOT in the last couple of weeks!

  • And this has been done.. and it always ends up the same.. like it was said.. lots of trolling. the best way to learn is to go to groups specified for that..and who don't tolerate trolling. asking questions is one thing.. bashing.. is quite another.

  • That would be nice but I think there are just too many people who use this site to pull that off.

  • It's really a question of timing. When there are less people on, the questions go more smoothly. When there are more people on, there are exponentially more people anonotrolling. Go back a page or so and read some of the ones from later last night and into this morning. They all stayed civil, no matter the topic or who was in them. You'll also notice a distinct lack of anons.

If you can find the way to separate the wheat from the chaff you'll get into the good discussions.

  • That kind of thing does belong in a group setting. Not in a Q&A section. It's a nice idea, but I don't want to wait for atheist week if I have a question I need opinions on now.
