  • Most labor nurses & doctors/midwives will have you take a deep breath & then hold it for a 10 count while you push. They will try to have you get 2-3 pushes per contraction & then rest between the contractions, breathing naturally & waiting for the next contraction to push again. My best advice would be to utilize your nurse. L & D nurses are amazing people & they can help you so much with labor. If you want a natural birth, tell them right off & tell them you weren't able to take the classes & so would really like their advice. Best of luck with delivery & your new little one!

  • the nurses are the ones you want to ask for advice like funnyface said, they are the ones that are there for everything unlike the docs that are only there for the big part of things. so when you get there just ask your nurse for some tips and tell her that while you are laboring if she sees something that may make things more helpful for you to please tell you (or your partner since you may not take it well at that point from anyone). good luck and just relax it'll be ok!
