replacing butter with applesauce

i'm low on butter and can't make it to the store. I have heard applesauce can replace butter. the recipe calls for 1 cup of butter, how much applesauce is equivelant to that?

  • im making cookies. i'm familiar with replacing EGGS with applesauce not so much with butter. well I discovered I have a stick of butter in the fridge which is missing 2 teaspoons so i only need a little to replace what is missing, but I dont know what to do!
