Exercise and periods

Not sure if I should put this in diet and fitness or here. Anyhow, since working out for a few months, my periods have been pretty much late or non existant. Does anyone know why or what can I do to make them return ?

  • i don't know the reasons behind it, however i do know that athletes miss periods, start later in life, or do not have periods at all sometimes. as far as making it return, are you trying to get pregnant? if so i don't know, if not maybe some form of birth control would help (like the pill or something) i would suggest asking a doctor what tips they have to keep your period regular while working out. but i was a competitive swimmer from the age of 8 through high school and alot of us didn't have periods at all for months at a time or some didn't even start a period at all til after they quit swimming or other sports.

  • Amenorrhea is what you may have. You need to get medical help since it can cause health issues.
