How can I make a roast without having pot roast? The kids are burnt out on roast...can I make a mexican recipe or stew? Please list your favorite recipe of a way to use the roast. (I love the crockpot)

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
    1/4 cup hoisin sauce
    3 tablespoons ketchup
    3 tablespoons honey
    2 teaspoons bottled minced garlic
    2 teaspoons grated peeled fresh ginger
    1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
    1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
    2 pounds boneless Boston butt pork roast, trimmed
    1/2 cup fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
    Combine first 8 ingredients in a small bowl, stirring well with a whisk. Place in a large zip-top plastic bag. Add pork to bag; seal. Marinate in refrigerator at least 2 hours, turning occasionally.

    Place pork and marinade in an electric slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

    Remove pork from slow cooker using a slotted spoon; place on a cutting board or work surface. Cover with aluminum foil; keep warm.

    Add broth to sauce in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 30 minutes or until sauce thickens. Shred pork with 2 fork

  • i cooked one in the crockpot the othe rday, with jsut beef stock, then took it out and made stroganoff with it. also mayb edo bbq sandwiches with it. im sure you could do shredded beef tacos or burritoes or something

  • Crockpot Mexican Pot Roast Recipe
    3 lb. well trimmed boneless beef bottom round roast
    1/2 tsp each salt and pepper
    2 cups bottled salsa
    1 can (4 oz) chopped green chiles
    1 can (16 oz) tomato paste
    1/2 cup water
    1 envelope (1.25 oz) taco seasoning mix

    Rub the roast with the salt and pepper and set aside. Mix remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Pour half of the suace into a 4 qt. or larger CP. Add the roast. Pour remaining sauce over the roast. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours or until meat is very tender. Remove roast from CP, skim fat off top of sauce. Slice meat against the grain and serve with the sauce.

  • Put it in the crock pot with bbq sauce. Then shred it with a couple forks and serve it on buns kind of like sloppy joes. Or like a pp said use taco seasoning and you've got the base for burritos or tacos. Or if you have time cut it up into chunks, brown it and throw it in the crock pot with seasonings and your favorite stew veggies (potatoes, carrots, peas, etc) and some water or beef or veggie stock.   • how about a nice medium Rare oven cooked roast or kebabs on the grill?

  • Sear the outside of the roast in a pan. Put meat in crock pot and cover with cream of mushroom soup (undiluted) and a packet of onion soup mix. When the roast is cooked you have a yummy gravy too!

  • Why not make burritos with it? Sandwiches? kebabs are great with kids.
