What feeding schedule do you have for a 10 months old (Formula & Baby food)

My son eats 4-5 times a day. He has formula everytime he eats then morning and afternoon/evening I give him fruit in the a.m. and veggies at night. Just wondering if I should be feeding more baby food. He is only 14 pounds and usually only eats about 5 oz. of formula a time. Just wanted to compare others.

  • My son is the same age but he doesn't eat baby foods anymore...
    Today:
7:00-He breastfeeds first thing in the morning
9:00- Breakfast he had half a fruit and cereal bar
    10:30- 6 oz bottle
    Nap
12:00- sweet potato strips and black bean patty
    1:00- 4 oz bottle
(then I went to work... but I expect the rest of the night)
4:00- 6 oz bottle then Nap
7:00 whatever daddy makes for him to eat, most likely whatever he is having himself
9:00- 6-8 oz bottle and then bed

He also has a sippy cup with his meals of 1/2 strength juice (wish he would drink just water but he won't)

  • What does your doc think about his weight? My almost 9 month old is 18 lbs.
    To answer your question, though:
    6AM - 4 oz formula
    7-8AM - 4-5 tbsps cereal, some fruit
    10AM - 4-6 oz formula
Noon - Jar fruit, some juice or water
    2PM - 4 oz formula
4-5PM - jar veggies, some fruit
7-8PM - 8 oz formula with cereal (she goes to bed at 8)

    I think that is it!

  • Well, he has always had issues with his growth and weight. But we did tests and everything is normal. He is just a little guy and eats what he can for his size. He is in the 3rd percentile and the doctor says as long as he follows his own curve he is fine. Had lots of worries with him eating and growth, but everything is getting better as he gets older. Just wanted to know what others schedules were.

  • I had the same problem with the weight thing with my daughter, she is 9 months and is in the 100th percentile in height but her weight is only about 18 lbs. and the doctor said as long as she is growing and eating, there is nothing wrong with her.

Here is my general schedule that I usually follow:
    7:15-7:30AM: 7 oz. of formula
9:00: baby cereal and some juice
    10:00-10:30: 6 oz. of formula
noon: jar of veggies and some water
3:00: 6 oz. of formula and some finger foods (gerber puffs, cheerios, small cooked pieces of veggies or fruit etc)
    5:00: jar of fruit
6:00-7:00PM: 6 oz. of formula (bedtime at 8)

    Hope this helps!

  • All children are different, you really can't compare them. He will let you know when he's hungry and how much he wants to eat. Don't worry so much if he should be eating more that is what makes kids over weight. Just let him let him tell what he wants and how much. Everything will be ok.

  • OK, just wondering. Being a little guy is not bad as long as he's healthy!!
