How can I tell if it's allergies or a cold?

My 15 month old has had a runny nose for almost 2 weeks! Not really any other symptoms except maybe her yes are a little red from time to time, but could it be hayfever? We have a pretty high pollen count around here :(

  • If she's rubbing her eyes like she's indicating they're itchy even with a runny nose she probably has allergies. Try keeping her in for a while on the highest pollen count days and see if she improves between outings. I've had times where pollen has bothered me and not too many others plus the opposite. Just try to track her reaction to being in and out of high pollen days. Poor baby!!

  • If she's running a fever its prob. not allergies. Allergies come and go. A cold hangs on for days. Allergies are generally clear runny noses, although an ER doc. told us diff. the other day. I wasn't impressed. Allergies can turn into infections tho. Like ear or throat infections.

Without a fever, just treat the symptoms.
