  • Ooh, ooh ! I've got it. Go to the UN and beg them to pass a UN resolution ! After all, that's what certain political groups always insist that America do - go to the UN and form a coalition before taking action.
Even when 3000 people were killed in downtown NY, our administration went to the UN repeatedly for weeks. When it finally gave up on the UN and took action, the media was loud in its indignation that we were "acting unilaterally", and urged the administration to continue "working with" the UN.

The UN is SO competent and effective ! North Korea is SURE to cooperate with the UN.

This isn't true. I know for a fact that we took action on Sept 11. It may not have been a LOT of action, but it was something. I know for a fact that we had Army units in the air that day.

  • Personally I don't think we should do anything because they entered that country illegally and did something against their laws. You are paying the price for your actions.

  • ... well, of course "we took action on Sept. 11th"

My point was to highlight the futility of working with the UN. It is entirely true that Bush repeatedly urged and requested action from the UN, to no avail.

I was scoffing at the mind-set which wants to apply to the UN to take care of ANY international problem, including the farcical conviction of 2 Americans in a North Korean trial.
