I walk into Church(as I do every week) We are Catholic so the first thing we do is

dip into the Holy Water. Later we hold hands during the Our Father and Shake hands during the sign of peace. Then the Communion ministers go up and use hand sanitizer before administering Communion. Would I come across as very rude if I put a little hand sanitizer on before dipping in the Holy Water or shaking hands?

  • I don't think so. Wouldn't bother me personally.

  • wouldn't bother me either. i would probably put some on before going into the holy water, then later when they do the "peace be w/yous" part of things (haven't been in forever so don't remember what this is called) then again afterwards

  • I wouldn't think you are rude. You are just being cautious. Besides, if the priest is doing it, it can't be that bad. Besides, you never know exactly what is in that holy water.

  • I'm not Catholic, but after we shake hands and greet each other at my Church, quite a few people use hand sanitizer... it's just part of keeping germs away... especially after that swine flu outbreak!! Everyone had hand sanitizer!!!
