GPS systems

When you buy the GPS is there a monthly fee that goes with it? What one would you suggest?

  • I've never heard of any with monthly fees. We have a TomTom and I love it. It was around $100 at Wal-Mart. My parents have a Garmin and I don't like it at all.

  • No there are no monthly fees associated. If you are a first timer I wouldnt go with anything too expensive because most of those are for truckers and people who travel a lot. Go with something like nextar which is pretty affordable and easy to use.

    TomTom or Garmin GPS has no fee to use them monthly, (unlike your cellphone).

    It is recommended not to buy the basic one but the one that can mention the street name.

    For example. Turn left in 50 yards. <- Basic <- cheapest

    For a smarter one. Turn left at Main St in 50 yards. <- Just extra $20-30 , save you from turning at the wrong street.
