Can you go to jail for disturbing the peace?

Two boys fought my brother and all three boys got charged with disturbing the peace. My brother went to the court to try to pay the fine but was told that he didnt have to pay the fine but he had to come to court. He seems to think that he is going to jail even though he was only protecting himself. What do you think? He is 18 yrs old

  • Doubt he would go to jail for that. At the worst he will probably get a suspended sentence (meaning if he stay out of trouble for the given amount of time they will leave him alone).
