Is state farm good homeowners insurance

I am looking into moving my homeowners insurance to state farm. I think they are a pretty good company. Lots of people have them. Especially with autos. but i was wandering if anyone knew how they were on there homeowners ins. Like if you have a claim, do they respond quickly, are they good about paying?

  • I have no personal experience with them so don't quote me on this but I remember reading a story right after Hurricane Katrina hit about State Farm and how they bailed out on many of their policies. I can't remember the article exactly because that was a long time ago but I very specifically remember saying to myself that I would never purchase homeowner's insurance through them.

  • homeowners need to understand that hurricane insurance, and flood insurance are not included in a homeowners policy. no matter where you live.
i live in houma. i know what you are talking about, as far as that article goes. i hear it on the no news every damned night. our allstate agent made sure we understood we needed extra coverage for these things when we got our ins. i suggest allstate. they are awesome.

  • I DO NOT HAVE HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE THROUGH THEM BUT ALL MY OTHER INSURANCE IS, AND I LOVE THEM. WHEN I DO BUY A HOME, I WILL DEFINITLY USE THEM

  • You will have the lowest rates by having your homeowner's and car insurance policies with the same company. We have been very happy with State Farm
