  • Water has to make its way up the whole stem, so if the leaves are wilted on the top, it needs more water. Tomato plants take an incredible amount of water each day to survive.

  • Be sure and water your tom. plants every day that it isn't raining. While you can over water your tom. plants and cause a root rot, that's not likely to happen unless you are having week after week of pouring rain and floods. A good quart for each plant should be enough. Water slowly tho so that the water goes down to the roots and doesn't run off.

Also water in the evening if you can. That way the plant gets the benefit of the water all nite long without it drying in the summer sun. Although, like I tell my daughter, water in the morning, if you are going to be gone all day and won't have time that evening.
