  • Don't use ANY babywipes. They say alcohol-free but it's still painful if there's a rash and it will irritate. Just use a damp washcloth or papertowel. Let his little butt hang out in the fresh air to dry it out. When you put on a diaper just use ointment like Aquaphor or A&D. Don't use the creams like Desitin.

  • we have been using wipes...oops! damp washcloth is a really good idea! and if we let his butt hang out, wont he pee everywhere?

  • It's just pee, hehe. If you have an area that's tile or linoleum then see if he can play there diaper-less for 15 minutes or so. If he's really young then set him on some towels on the floor for a bit to air out. That way if he pees then you can just throw them in the wash.

  • we use Desitin all the time! If you put it on thick and change him every couple of hours, it should get better. Part of the rash is his butt being wet and the irritation it creates. Keeping him as dry as possible is the key.

  • it might be a yeast infection.

  • well we have wood floors everywhere except the kitchen so i guess were going to have to let him play in there for a little while. we change him at least once an hour so he doesnt have to sit in it for too long.

  • I agree with Soniam301, it sounds like a yeast infection to me. My LO had one when he was about a month old. The dr presribed Nystatin-cleared it up right away.

  • huh what causes a yeast infection in babies? my moms friend said that her kids got the same kind of rash when she started them on table foods. could that be the cause? if its not better by friday, i have to take him back in for them to look at it again. i was just annoyed by how not helpful this particular pediatrician was and was looking for some more help from people i know will be more then willing to help out.

  • My daughter was allergic to Pampers...she has to wear Huggies and Sensitive wipes and the only lotion she can use is Baby Magic...she has very sensitive skin

  • so does aiden. we have been using huggies and pampers sensitive wipes since he came home...after a minor diaper rash with regular wipes. he hasnt had a reaction to those brands since we started using them.
