how do you know when you are retaining water?

i have a red spot on my chest. its looks like sunburn but i havent' been outside in days. its on my back too. when i touch it, it leaves a print of my finger, and it stays white for seconds before fading back to red. someone told me this is because i am retaining water. is this true?

  • Usually when you are retaining water your extremities will swell (your hands and feet.) Are your ankles particularly looking puffy? Do your fingers feel tight when you ball up your hands? Even the face can show signs of water retention. But if you are worried, and you are not swelling, then I would call my doctor. :)
