what can he eat at 6 months

What real foods can I start giving my son. He is 6 months. I have given him tiny bites of banana, but thats about it. He hates the baby food meats, so I was just wondering what starter things I can give him. Even though hes not quite crawling yet is it too soon to give him the lil Gerber crackers that dissolve?

  • Nope not too soon.

I started giving all kinds of things...scrambled eggs (but stay away from the whites for now.) toast, french toast, soft fruit (like peaches) steamed veggies...

  • Just give him tiny bite size pieces. My lo wants to eat whatever we are having so we give her tastes. Now she has tried just about everything that we eat and can't get enough.

  • The baby isn't quite there yet and my big boy is 6 years old so it's been awhile since I started one on solids but if I remember right this is basically how I started my first: Rice cereal, oatmeal, pears, applesauce, peas, carrots, green beans. I pretty much just went through the jars of Gerber Baby food one at a time. His ped told me to just give him one new food at a time every 3 - 4 days so that if he was allergic to anything we would know what it was. And he told me some of the foods to stay away from until 1 year (strawberries, peanut butter, honey, eggs, etc...)
