my daughter is 5 months (6 on the 26th) ... shes not sitting up yet. she says 'mummma' and 'da' , scoots , holds her own bottle , everything else babies her age are doing ... my question is , since shes not setting up , do you think she may be autistic?!?!?! i heard kids who are are late w/ simple things ...

  • Babies learn to sit up on their own between 4 and 7 months. I'm sure your baby is fine.

  • i dont think she is autistic. but im no doctor. Kids do develop differently. my cousin didn't crawl EVER but one day, just got up and started walking around. every child is different. maybe she just doesn't like sitting up. who knows. best of luck to you.

  • She's way within range! My daughters both sat on their own at 7 months, but my first was walking at 11 (my second's still only 9 months but she's keeping up just fine!) Please don't worry.

  • I think your baby is fine too. It is normal for moms to worry that something may be wrong. Just enjoy her babies will do things in their own time,

  • I don't think she is, my best friend's son didn't start sitting up until he was 9 months he's a year now and he walks, talks, dances, eats and everything just fine. Just be patient.

  • My older son didn't sit up until after 7 months. I remember because I have a picture of him at his 6 month birthday party and we had to hold him up.

  • my baby just turned 6 months and he cant sit up completely on his own, he leans really far forward, or has to have something against his back to lean on. i dont think anythings wrong with my baby. everyone develops differently. seems like your babys doing fine..shes scooting working on a crawl and mines not doing that yet. every baby is different

  • my 5 month olds are neither sitting and seem to have no interest in doing so! DD loves her bumbo, but DS hates his. He is rolling all over the place and she just lays there! I wouldn't worry about autism just yet, but if you're like me, you worry about it because you don't want to just write it off and there actually be something wrong! GL and I'm sure your LO will accomplish it soon!
