  • Yes around 12. Please, for the love of God, don't be like my mom! Everyone else was shaving their legs and she wouldn't let me shave mine, so I finally decided to do it myself and ended up cutting myself so bad I still have scars from the first time I tried to shave! (Didn't know not to apply pressure because nobody told me!) Let her do it when the other girls do because remember how cruel other girls can be at that age, and it's not like sex or drugs or anything!

  • 13 to 16 years old. It depends on how your DD is maturing.

  • I was in 4th grade (1989) and I was aloud to with help. This came up because I was being teased at school. I had quite dark hair on my legs and several other girls were already shaving theirs.

  • If her hair is darkening and getting thicker....please let the girl shave. Its hard enough being a girl and having your body critiqued.

  • My mom let me when I started my period....I was 11. I think the first period is a pretty good time, unless, like others have said, her hair is really dark or thick, where others can notice. Kids kill themselves these days when they get picked on, don't let her get picked on over something so easily resolved.

  • My dd has been shaving her underarms since 2nd grade and legs since just before 4th grade started. Young? Probably but quite necessary. She didn't actually use a razor at first - she used veet and then went on to a rechargable electric razor.

  • Do not make her wait until her first period...She might be like me and that didn't start until 15 almost 16...THAT IS TOO LONG.....I say, let her start when she notices other girls in class shaving and wants to. That would be appropriate.
