Does Letterman owe an apology to all women across the country?

Sarah Palin was on the 'Today' show and spoke about the recent jabs at her and her family from David Letterman. (Letterman said: "One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.") Actually her 14 year old daughter, Willow, was at the game and now A few days later, Letterman is backtracking saying he meant her 18 year old daughter, Bristol.

Sarah Palin said that by saying a joke about her daughter contributes to the "acceptance of abuse of younger women."

Do you think Letterman should stop backtracking and just apologize for such a comment, whether he meant a 14 year old OR recently turned 18 year old???

  • I don't like David Letterman anyway. He's got a truly mean streak a mile wide. He's an ideologue, and his beliefs make their way into his "comedy", which isn't even funny to begin with. He should hang it up and go pal around with nasty ol' Bill Maher. They are both a couple of bitter pills to swallow.

  • NO FREAKEN WAY! When accepting to be Mccain's side kick, she should have know that she & her whole entire family is not safe from getting cracked on. I mean, she should be aware that she signed herself up to get made fun of. Every other candidate has dealt with it, she can be a big girl & deal with it too. Gosh, imagine if she was actually vice president? The drama that woman would cause........she is also very good at finding a way to be in the lime light. They didn't win, but she will always somehow be on TV.

  • anon 1:34 - would you want someone joking about YOUR kid like that? when will ADULTS be held accountable for saying such NASTY things - not even about each other...about other innocent people and KIDS!!! totally ugly and unacceptable for a grown man to say.

And um, HOW can you justify this: "Palin will do and say anything to be in the spotlight again. "????

  • Yeah TMJ...he's a comedian and should get to say whatever about whoever. I mean young girls seem to be fair game for the comedians right now. Why in the world would we demand respect for our daughters? I mean, it isn't like the millions of young women who watch his show don't already have enough in the media to tear them down....whats one more thing?

YES he should apologize ( and mean it). YES it was completely out of line. I don't care who you are or WHAT your line of work is there should be a damn line drawn, and that line is raunchy "jokes" about our daughters!!!! What the h*ll did women fight for all those years, so men could still say asinine things like this and it be shrugged off as boys will be boys!  Utter and total BS.

  • Sooooooooooooooooooo when the really raunchy and sick jokes are made about Obama's children NONE of you are going to scream racism or anything right? I mean, they put their kids out there right?? FREE SPEECH and all that....And I seem to recall the media bent over backwards over a certain miss Chelsea Clinton....
