  • I don't know, but just be careful not to use anything he could choke on or ingest.
Oh and just a word about the socks...I wouldn't use anything that you don't want him to chew on as he gets older. I.E. You can't really make him a toy out of socks and then get mad at him when he runs around the house eating everyones socks.

  • oh its ok, his toys are kept in the basement where our livingroom area is (no ones dirty clothes down here) so he plays down here, closley watched, and he is kept in our puppy proofed kitchen if no one is home :) he is a chihuahua.

  • Don't use socks as tug of war toys, the threading on the socks could pull the teeth out, its very dangerous. I see this happen all the time. It doesnt hurt to have them chew on old socks by themselves but pulling it from them or having them pull it could severely hurt their teeth.
If you have thick tight rope, you could use that but make sure there aren't any loops of string hanging out.
If you have slippers you dont need or anything that is thick, have fun.. I have 2 Chihuahuas and they love my slippers even though they are twice the size of my dogs lol.
Be careful with old stuffed animals too because they will go for the eyeballs/nose and choke on them. Try and remove them before you give it to your dog.

  • Remember when using shoes as toys that the puppy doesn't know the difference between the old shoe he can chew on and your new $100 Nike's you left by the door! Sock toys are fine under close supervision. If your dog is going through toys quickly, try investing in some Nylebones and Kong toys. They are made sturdy for heavy chewers and definitely appropriate for dogs!.
