How do you prepare your nipples for breastfeeding?

I saw some where that you should.

  • Nothing at all. Prepare your brain instead...go pick up a copy of "So That's What They're FOr" so you know what to expect.

  • my mom told me to use a faceloth and scrub at my nipples to "toughen them up" but yaaa i couldnt do

  • Ack, the idea of "preparing your nipples" is awful. Take a class and prepare your mind. The best possible way to get breastfeeding off to a good start is knowing what to expect, and also meeting with a good lactation consultant when your baby arrives. Messing with your nipples will only make them sore or put you into early labor.

    By the way anon 00 I am not a man. I have not breastfeed before & since I am expecting in August I thought I would asked becauseI saw someone mention this in NC.(newcommers) about how they wish someone would of told them to prepare your nipples for breastfeeding.
