red bumps on 3 week old's face

i thought they might be hives from something I ate that might be bothering her, but she's had them for almost 2 days now...there are about 5 of them only on her face and they look like little pimples...they don't seem to itch/bother her and they seem to fade now and then but aren't getting any worse.........anyone know what this is?

  • Totally normal. Do not pick them. Just make sure you are washing her face often with warm cloth.

  • Yes, baby acne is extremely common, it will go away on it's own.

  • its ance, normal stuff. wash her face with a gentle soap like ivory, or oatmeal based stuff from aveeno, the johnsons baby stuff is harsher because of the perfumes. Dont be tempted to put any meds on it and here is what helped for my sons acne, put a little breast milk on it. I was able to still express some and would put it on is face thruout the day...and it went away in about 48 hrs!

  • its baby acne.. clogged pores from the vernix when they were born.. it will go away on its own, they say not to put soap on it because it will dry out their faces. Try to keep all oils and such away from her face too.. like when you kiss her your lips leave oils. The breastmilk idea is ok tho!
