  • Well I personally wouldn't ever a hire a 13 year old to babysit unless the child was like 7/8 or up. Especially if they don't know cpr. BUT My cousin babysat my 15 month old for a few hours and I paid her 5 dollars an hour So I would say 7 dollars an hour.

  • 13 is old enough.. go out and have fun! I usually pay by the job... like I will pay you $20 to babysit on Friday... we are usually just gone 2-3 hours so its like $7/hr. Check with the Mom too... a neighbor does not like her child to have too much $ so she only allows me to pay her child $15 no matter what!

  • No clue but when I was 18 I babysat my neighbor's 2 kids who were 3 and 8 at the time and got paid $20 a week. And I watched them 8 hours a day, 2 days a week. So I was getting about $1.25/hour, lol. Their kids were monsters, too. I never knew what days they needed me so I was on call every day of the week at 7am. I quit after a couple of weeks because it was insane.

Personally I would pay the girl $20 for the night...flat fee is easier for kids to understand.

  • My cousin pays her sitter $10 an hour for 3 kids (9,6 and 5). There is nothing wrong with a 13 yr old babysitting, as long as they are mature enough to handle emergencies and keep the kids entertained. She pays a minimum of $20.

  • My daughters make $10/hr but they are 17 and 19 and they clean the house and do laundry.

  • It really depends on the area you live in. I live in a small town in southern Illinois and things tend to be way cheaper here than in dallas. I pay betwwen 20 and 30/ night depending on how long im gone. after 10 pm I know my dd is sleeping, plus my child is easy anyway and it is a teenager so they don't get paid like adults. I would pay 30 if I was gone from 6 to 1 am or something, 20 or 25 for less time. I never pay less than 20.

  • It depends on where you live. If you do not pay what the majority people pay, you won't find a sitter.
I personally feel that 5--6 Dollars an hour is good. I would not pay adult minumim wage. They are not adults.

When I lived in FL near Ponte Vedra Beach the going rate for young teens was ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS per hour. I was speechless. I rarely use a sitter. I do not trust anyone but me and DH to care for our treasures.
