What is the difference between occult and a cult?

Yes I am sending the dumb question quota over the limit so get your little laugh at my stupidity out and then answer the question please.

  • Yeah a cult is just when a group breaks away from the teachings of it's founding faith, and teaches something different. They can be dangerous, controlling or manipulative, but that is rarely the case.

    The occult means "hidden knowledge" and it includes things like sceances, spells, divination, the ouija board, astrology, esp, magick, etc. The Bible forbids participating in the things of the occult.

  • as far as i know, the Occult involves black magic, which is the unfortunate stereotype for most wiccans ans pagans in the bible belt, and a Cult is a small group or large group of gatherers who worship one leader, they often live in a commune
