Can I use colored marshmallows?

O.k... I'm making some rice crispy treats... My son really likes the miniature colored marshmallows, but I'm afraid if I use them, then the colors will make a "non-yummy" brown color... Does anyone know for sure?

  • They will melt into a light tan color. Add some food coloring if you want to make them a different color.

  • Yes and it will be fine. I have done that before and they weren't brown more of a light tan color.

  • they turned a light greenish brown for me...but one snow day when we had nothing else to do...my daughter and i actually separated the colors and melted them down separately so we could have different color treats...don't recommend this unless you have absolutely nothing else to do for a few hours. We make them white now.
