Substitution question.

I have a recipe for brownies that calls for butter, but all I have on hand is shortening. Can I substitute? What changes do I need to make in terms of measurement, if any? Thank you!

  • Sorry not being rude but don't try using applesauce in place of butter in brownies it is NASTY I tried it because I substitute applesauce for the oil in all of my baking. Its REALLY gross and inedible in the brownies though lol!
