At what age did you give a set of the keys of the house/apartment to your kid(s)?

  • I haven't. My son is 13 and we have a code for the garage door and that is what he gets. There is no key for him to lose.

  • Mines still a baby but my parents gave me a house key when I was 12 and I would come home from school alone. I do remember losing my key all the time though lol.

  • When they need one. Right now even if they are out and about without me our front door is always unlocked during the day. Even when I leave the house I rarely lock it (my dad is home but always upstairs in his room). It was like that when I was a kid, too, so I didn't get a house key until I demanded one at 14 because I kept getting locked out when my mom suddenly started locking the door when she would leave.
