breastfeeding question...

My 3 week old has started pulling off my breast while I'm feeding her just to want to immediately latch back on...anyone else's child do this? She does it maybe 5-10 times during each feeding...just curious why she does this...

  • My little girl did that. I found out from the La Leche League that it sometimes means that the flow is slow and this is the way the baby teases the breast to produce more. Eventually, you will produce more and this process will slow down, but then in a few months when she is growing again, she did it again because she was demanding more milk. My Doc said to try to feed her more often and drink lots of water to help produce more milk.

  • Maybe the flow is just to fast for her to keep up with so she pulls off.
