  • He's Santa's assistant, who beats bad children with a stick. Google "Krampus" and you'll find sites devoted to him. Look him up in Wikipedia, too--there's more info about various legends relating to him.

  • I did some research on him a few years ago. There are lots of myths about this guy but they all seemed to come out of the Alpine. Here are two articles I found to be the most helpful during my research.

    While today we tell children if they aren't good Santa will leave coal, back then they were told that if they weren't good they would be beat by Krampus, an horned "devil" that traveled with Santa Klaus.
