All day charter school kindergarten or half-day public school kindergarten?

  • my dd did fine in all day Kindergarten. She LOVED it. She went to a private Christian school. She is a kid who enjoys structure and they had atleast 3 recesses/day and lots of fun!

  • It depends on how well you think your child will do in the longer school day. Also, how long is "all-day" kindergarten. Some are only an hour longer than the old half-day, some or an hour shorter than the bigger kids, some are the same length of time as the big kids. And, as ria7 points out, how many outside play breaks do the kids get? How much free-play time inside? Young kids actually learn MORE when given plenty of chances to run around and play.
