Should i consult a lawyer?

My mom died of "mixed drug intoxication". Basically she took an anti-depresent that wasnt supposed to be mixed with vicodin (all of these she has a perscription for) and she died. She were also on some other medications and she had an overdoes with the anti-depresent and a very slight overdoes on the vicodin, but no fatal doses. It was the mix of the drugs that was fatal, not the dose. Is it worth talking to a lawyer about? Do i have a chance of suing the pharmacy for wrongful death?

  • I would also be more apt to consider the prescribing physician, but in all reality, each person reacts differently to different drug combinations. It may be a combination that is usually safe, but was a reaction unique to your Mother's body. I think a conversation with an attorney would be able to let you know what your specific options are. I am very sorry for your loss.

  • Do you know for a fact that she had both prescriptions filled at the same pharmacy? If she didn't and she didn't reveal the other medications that she was on, then how would they know this? What about the doctors that prescribed her all these medications? Why would you believe that the pharmacy is more liable than the doctors that prescribed the meds? Doctors are supposed to know what they are prescribing to their patients. Unless she doctor shopped to keep things secret from her different doctors. How do you know that she didn't know what she was doing when she took the meds together?

Yes i know for a fact that the perscriptions were filled by the same pharmacy. She had several doctors due to her heart condition and depression issues. As well as a regular doctor. I dont know if they havd much communication. The pharmacy is also supposed to catch things like mixed drugs.
And i know she didnt commit suicide because she has a 4yr old son that i now have to raise and her oldest son is getting married next month and she was looking forward to being there.

ya know, you've got some nerve to ask that.
