  • Babies do things at their own learning speed. When your baby is ready, they will sit up and crawl.

  • According to my son's pedi, at 9 months babies should be able to get across a room, whether by crawling, army crawling, rolling, scooting, walking, just somehow, doesn't matter how. Crawling isn't a necessary milestone at all, and they don't start worrying about walking even until after 15 months. My son didn't sit up well until 10 months, crawled at 11 months, and walked at 14 months; he's 2 now, and running around like crazy, fine developmentally. Take everything you hear from other moms with a grain of salt and discuss it with your pedi if you're concerned.

And it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. :-)

  • All babies don't crawl, and crawling is not a milestone. T. Berry Brazelton has great information on his website: www.touchpoints.org.
