  • i usually do a pasta salad, we roast corn on the grill with flavored butter. i make a red white & blue jello mold or some kind of dessert with strawberries & blueberries in it.
mom does ranch beans, a fruit salad, some kind of veggie tray.
we bbq chicken & ribs along with burgers ,dogs & brats.
it always was a big party at our place.

  • try an easy strawberry salad. mix 2 tubs of coolwhip, a little sweetened condensed milk ( like half the can, just add enough till it tastes good) , 1 TB of lemon juice, and fresh or frozen strawberries. mix it all together. Its really good, everyone loves it. u can also throw in whatever else you like. i added apples and marchmallows last time. or u could do blueberries or coconut. jsut whatever floats your boat.

also u can do pickle wraps (ham covered in cream cheese, warpped around a pickles and sliced, some call them frog eyes)

or another thing we do is breakfast sausage links, cut into 1in chunks, wrappend in bacon, can covered in brown sugar and baked. sounds weird but is awsome, and really unhealthy!

fruit pizza is really good too.

i could keep going too, but anyway good luck and Happy 4th!!

  • Yes Ma'am
This has ALWAYS been a gig hit! I don't know the exact name of it so me and my friends call it our Mexican shit dip:
Take a pizza pan or a cookie sheet and wrap it in a shit load of saran wrap(Easy clean up)
Take can of refried beans(we usually us the vegetarian kind mainly cuz the regular ones contain lard)~Spread that out on the pan
    NEXT
Mix a thingy of sour cream(16 oz?) with a package of taco seasoning and spread that out on top of the beans
    NEXT
shred like a head of lettuce(with your hands, iffin you use a knife it gets brown and shitty looking quickly)~Spread that out on top of the sour cream mixture
    NEXT
Chop up some tomatoes and spread that on top of the lettuce
    NEXT
Grate or store buy sharp cheddar cheese(Not the finely grated kind cuz it looks gross and tends to melt to easily)~spread that on top of the tomatoes
    Next

  • If you want, drain a can of chopped olives and spread that on top of the cheese. We don't usually do this since the kids HATE olives as most of the adults at our get togethers
Get a bag of scoops tortilla chips or whatever you prefer and TADAAAAAAAAH!!!
This is ALWAYS the first dish to go at our get togethers while we're waiting for food to get done

  • Here's another one...You may have to make A LOT of these since these tend to go quickly
    ingrediants:
    taco shells(THE FLOUR KIND!!!!)
cream cheese(either the whipped easy spread kind or regualar)
    green onions(optional for the kids)
    Dill pickles
deli boiled ham(NOT THE HONEY KIND)
    tooth picks(optional, but they help)

lay out a taco shell, put a slice of ham on it, spread cream cheese on it(or you can spread the cream cheese on the shell)
chop and dice green onions and sprinkle them on the shell SPARINGLY
    slice pickles length wise
place a pickle on the shell as well
roll them up nice and tight
take a knife or pizza cutter and make them into slices and use toothpick to hold the things together.

  • How about doing something totally different? Who says it has to be your normal cookout food? What about Salmon (or some other sort of fish) Tacos. I've got a great recipe and everyone loves them. Even my hubby who hates Salmon.

You could do all sorts of sides to go with them.

  • We are having sloppy joes, pasta salad and chips. I make an easy pasta salad. Make however much rotini pasta as you will need. Let cool. Add chopped baby carrots, cucs, cherry tomatoes, cheese, pepperoni. I then pour a bottle of whatever type of Ranch dressing that sounds good that day. Mix well. You can also use Italian dressing if you don't like Ranch dressing. I have also added chopped broccoli and cauliflower. Chop all the ingredients in bite sized pieces.

  • Get a can of croissants and spread it out over a cookie sheet in one big piece and cook according to the directions. Mix a pack of ranch dip mix with a 16 oz thing of sour cream - may take two - been awhile since I've made this. Cut up your favorite fresh veggies into small bite sized pieces - broccoli, bell peppers, mushrooms, shred carrots, cauliflower, etc.

Once the croissant stuff is cool, add the ranch dip, then veggies, and then add shredded mozzarella cheese.

Cut into small squares and store in fridge until ready to serve
