  • Did your milk just come in? Sometimes babies start having problems b/c all of a sudden, their dinner went from a trickle to a spray. It can be hard for baby to swallow if milk is coming out forcefully. Also, if you are more engorged than you were, it can change the shape of your nipple & make laching on more difficult for baby. You can try hand expressing some milk or pumping a bit before feeding. And Congrats on the new baby!!

  • If you think it's forceful let down you can lay on your back and put baby to breast that way. I've done it before but it's hard to actually tell you how she was positioned. The gravity helps the flow of milk not to be so strong.

  • congratulations on the new baby AND for breastfeeding! i agree with the other moms. it may be a forceful let-down, so pumping a little first may help. same goes for if you are engorged. breastfeeding success starts with (or continues with) knowledge and support. continue asking questions, check out and, and you can also join a breastfeeding group. it is such a wonderful experience that you and baby will share. happy breastfeeding!
