Measles or heat rash?

Was wondering if any mother's had a 3 yr old that had the measles.  My dd has had a fever the past two days...the first day it got up to 103.  She's acting fine now but she has a red rash on her chest up the back of her neck into her hairline.  There's also some rash on her back.  There's nothing on her face, in her mouth or on her limbs.  Could this just be heat rash?  We have recently arrived in TX to do some work and it is really hot and humid.  Thanks.

  • Yes - if you even suspect measles, she needs to be seen.

  • fever first and then rash...could be rosieola (sp) It starts with just a fever it can be anywhere form 99-103. fever subsides and then their is a rash. it is light pink-red spots usually small they start on the chest abdomen and back then over the next few day spread on the arms legs and cheeks. It's viral. We just went to the Ped over this about 2 weeks ago.

  • I would check with the doctor, with a fever of 103 you don't want to take any chances.
