VA and claims process???

My husband is 80% disabled with the VA. he appealed a decision they made about his shoulder and knee and he was granted more which put him at 90%. He has since applied for Individual Uemployabilty. They said they made a decision on the 26th of May, but we have yet to hear anything! Does anyone have experience with this? We were told they have 30 days to notify us of what the decision is....?

  • I would keep calling them until you got hold of someone who can answer your questions for you.  Although considering its the VA, chances are their decision is "no"........  But you never know and you may see a difference in his VA check before you get hold of someone who finally tells you.  Good luck.  If the answer is no, then appeal it as many times as you need to until they give in.

  • My husband waited 2 years for an answer, they say it can take this long. He had to reapply this year because the law changed about what kind of proof is needed. Its supposed to be not as strict but we will probably be waiting another 2 years.

  • all of my husbands conditions are service connected. he has been deteremined 80% (90% if you count his knee and shoulder) and it is permament. he has also since been diagonsed with depression, PTSD, anxiety disorder and neuropathy. these have not even been added in yet. everyone we have talked to has said that they have never seen a file as thick as his less than a yr out of the army. all of his conditions were documented while he was IN the army and they medically retired him at 50% from the army. agian, everyone we talked has told us it is not a matter if we will get it, but more of a matter of if it will be permanent or temp.

    Thanks for you help ladies!
